In spring 2024, three railway ferries actually operated on the Ust-Luga-Baltiysk line operated by Oboronlogistics (Marshal Rokossovsky and General Chernyakhovsky on a permanent basis, Ambal came out of scheduled repairs in mid-April and replaced the Baltiysk, which immediately went into repairs).
During this time, the cargo base of ferries in both directions amounted to about 250,000 tons and included fuels, lubricants and construction materials, construction equipment, buses and tractors, fertilizers, reagents for treatment facilities, glass, cardboard, medical equipment, as well as food.
The ferries transported metal structures, reinforced concrete products for the construction of sports facilities in the region, as well as sleepers and cables for the drawbridge under construction in Kaliningrad.
With the beginning of spring field work, agricultural equipment and machinery, planting material, seedlings of shrubs and trees, potted plants and seedlings that require careful treatment were delivered to the Kaliningrad region. In the opposite direction, on the eve of March 8 and the May holidays, bulbs and cut tulips followed from the Kaliningrad region to the main territory of Russia.
In addition, live pigs, sheep and cows were transported from the region on ferries in special trailers for sale in other regions of the country and abroad, as well as products of various manufacturers of the Kaliningrad region: food, fish semi-finished products, furniture, crane equipment, spare parts for cars.
