In June 2023, two Oboronlogistics vessels were involved on the Novorossiysk – Tartus line at once: the bulk carriers Sparta IV and Pizhma.
The vessels delivered commercial cargo to Syria, which included industrial chemicals, carbon-containing materials, base oils, prefabricated construction cargo and equipment. A batch of olive oil was delivered back to Novorossiysk, and empty containers were returned for further work.
Specialists of Oboronlogistics note a steadily increasing interest in the Middle East direction among commercial customers. Tartus is becoming a significant logistics hub, and the Oboronlogistics vessels involved on the line help customers build new logistics chains.
The high-speed cargo ship Sparta IV specializes in the delivery of general, containerized and bulk cargo, and also transports cargo requiring special conditions, including perishable products, dangerous goods, cars, heavy construction equipment and oversized cargo.
The cargo ship Pizhma, delivered to the Novorossiysk – Tartus line on June 15, 2023, in addition to the Sparta IV, is designed to transport cargo of all hazard classes. The ship has a deck for containers and general cargo, two holds and two ship cranes.
During the flight to Tartus on June 19, 2023, the crew of the Pizhma took part in a rescue operation in the Aegean Sea. 68 people from a yacht in distress were taken aboard the cargo ship in difficult weather conditions. The victims were taken to the bay of the island of Kalymnos and handed over to the Coast Guard of Greece.
