The end of August is traditionally associated with a high demand for flowers, with which children in our country go to school on September 1. Due to the sanctions imposed by the European Union in 2022, even flower delivery by land route to Kaliningrad has become impossible.
This year, by the beginning of the school year, flowers were sent to the Kaliningrad region from Russian nurseries on ferries operating on the Ust-Luga – Baltiysk line.
For cut plants that are perishable goods, steam is the optimal way of transportation, since they require specific delivery conditions in the shortest possible time. On board the ship, refrigerated trailers with flowers were connected to the power grid to maintain a constant temperature regime and a certain humidity.
As always, the operational interaction of the Ministry of Infrastructure Development of the Kaliningrad Region, Oboronlogistics and its line agents in the ports of Ust-Luga and Baltiysk contributed to the prompt delivery of flowers.
Taking this opportunity, Oboronlogistics congratulates teachers, students and parents on the new academic year! Let this year be full of amazing discoveries, entertaining lessons and bright moments!
