Storm season is open

Severe weather conditions in the Baltic, provoked by a powerful cyclone, disrupted the work schedule of the Ust-Luga – Baltiysk and St. Petersburg - Kaliningrad sea lines.

According to the dispatch service of Oboronlogistics, stormy weather is forecast in the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Finland from October 6 to 9, 2023, which leads to delays in voyage and cargo operations.

The wave height is expected to be more than 4.5 m and wind gusts up to 30 m/s. Shipping in the ports of Ust-Luga, St. Petersburg and Baltiysk is closed. Vessels wait out weather at berths in ports, or in places of shelters on anchor.

A storm in the Baltic Sea is a fairly frequent weather phenomenon. Usually, the period of heavy navigation begins here in November, but this year it announced itself prematurely – in the first half of October 2023.

In order to ensure the safety of navigation, the crews of Oboronlogistics vessels, under the guidance of experienced captains, follow all appropriate instructions, maintain the proper operation of vessels, comply with the rules of safe operation and prevention of environmental pollution.
