Maria is ready

On December 9, 2023, the ferry Maria returned to the Crimea – Caucasus line after a dock repair, during which the following works were carried out: painting of the underwater and surface parts of the hull, diagnostics and maintenance of propeller columns, repair and replacement of bottom intake fittings, maintenance of main and auxiliary engines.

The planned repairs were carried out under the watchful supervision of inspectors of the Russian Classification Society (FAA RCS). Given the importance of organizing the smooth operation of the Crimea–Caucasus ferry line, the repair was carried out as soon as possible in severe weather conditions and coincided with the so-called Storm of the Century raging on the Black Sea coast.

Oboronlogistics expresses its gratitude to all the specialists of Yuvas-Trans LLC, the Main Directorate of the FAA RCS, as well as the inspectors of the Crimean and Dono-Kuban branches of the FAA RCS for a responsible approach to business, prompt repair of the vessel and prompt classification inspection.

The ferries Maria and Lavrenty, owned by the Oboronlogistics shipping company, operated on the Crimea–Caucasus line before the Crimean Bridge was put into operation from 2015 to 2018. Since October 9, 2022, after an emergency on the bridge, they have resumed their work. The ferries are designed to transport large-capacity vehicles, can accommodate up to 700 tons of cargo, including up to 20 trucks and more than 200 passengers.

During the year of operation on the line, Oboronlogistics ferries made a total of about 4,000 round trips, transported back and forth more than 180,000 vehicles and more than 300,000 passengers. This is almost 90% of the total volume of traffic carried out at the Kerch ferry crossing.
