Ambal at a “low start”

The Ambal railway ferry, operating on the Ust-Luga – Baltiysk line, continues to undergo scheduled repairs at the Kanonersky Shipyard.

At present, dock work has been completed: all components and mechanisms of the vessel have been defectively examined, the hull has been completely painted, the rudder propeller complex and shaft lines have been repaired.

The ferry has left the dock and in the near future mooring and sea trials will be carried out as part of the next survey and presentation to the FAI "Russian Maritime Register of Shipping". Tentatively, the ferry will enter the Ust-Luga – Baltiysk line on April 12, 2024.

The Ambal was built in Germany in 1990 and was last undergoing scheduled repairs in May 2021. Vehicles of up to 150 units are accommodated on three cargo decks, each of which is equipped with five railway tracks. In addition, the ship has cabins for 12 passengers accompanying the cargo. Kingpin makes up to 6 round trips per month, the average weight of a cargo lot is 8 thousand tons.
