March: Spring Ferries

Oboronlogistics summed up the results of sea transportation performed in March 2024. In all directions, the data exceeds that of February 2024, which was marked by bad weather conditions in the Baltic and Black Seas:

1. Ferries Maria and Lavrentiy on the Crimea-Caucasus line made about 265 round trips (45 trips more than in February 2024), transported 12,500 vehicles and 18,000 passengers.

 2. Three railway ferries (Baltiysk, Marshal Rokossovsky and General Chernyakhovsky) operated on the Ust-Luga – Baltiysk line. The Ambal ferry is undergoing scheduled repairs, it is expected to enter the line after April 10, 2024.

In total, the ferries transported about 98,000 tons of cargo (including about 2,000 wagons and 1,800 units of rolling equipment). The main nomenclature of cargo was fuel, lubricants and construction materials, fertilizers, as well as food.

The total amount of cargo transported is higher than last month, as ferries made 4 more trips and priority seats were given to rolling equipment.

3. Dry cargo vessels Sparta, Sparta II and Pizhma operating on the container line St. Petersburg – Kaliningrad transported a total of about 27,551 tons of cargo, including:

containers – 2,127 units (28,169 tons);
rolling equipment – 94 units (2,343 tons);
General cargo – 376 tons.

At the end of March 2024, m/v Sparta went for scheduled repairs.
