After a scheduled repair, the Oboronlogistics railway ferry Ambal transported to the Kaliningrad Region on its first voyage valuable props necessary for the filming of the feature and historical film “Vasily Terkin”, which will be filmed in the region from April 17 to 28, 2024.

The transfer of more than 30 units of equipment from the Great Patriotic War was organized by specialists and line agents of Oboronlogistics in the ports carefully, smoothly and in the shortest possible time, since the film crew needed to capture the landscapes of early spring in the frame.

On board the Kingpin were the legendary Katyushas, tanks, self-propelled guns, anti-aircraft guns and howitzers, field kitchens, wheeled mortars, Willys and Studebaker cars, motorcycles and much more. Some samples moved under their own power, others by trucks.

The feature film “Vasily Terkin” is the first full-scale screen adaptation of the famous front-line poem by Alexander Tvardovsky. His hero is closer than ever to every Russian. According to the idea of the chief director Karen Gevorgyan, this is not a mythical hero, but an ordinary guy, reliable and simple. In search of new heroes, we have gone too far from him, and he is here among us. Overcoming hardships and fears, he helps his comrades, and together they win a great victory.

Oboronlogistics specialists highly appreciate the opportunity to take part in the implementation of such an important and large-scale project. Rare equipment could only be transported through the ferry line, bypassing the territories of limitrophes and only on the Ambal ferry, which had additional places for rolling and tracked vehicles on the closed cargo deck.

The ferry has a special design for the transportation of railway cars, as well as ro-ro equipment in the amount of up to 150 units on three cargo decks, each of which is equipped with five railway tracks. In addition, the ship has cabins for 12 passengers accompanying the cargo.
