Ursa Major is back at sea

m/v Ursa Major (The Big Bear) completed scheduled maintenance after a long campaign. The following repairs were carried out on the vessel:

 power plant;
main engine;
auxiliary mechanisms;
shaft line;
propeller-rudder complex;
crane equipment;
hull of the vessel.

Previously, the largest motor ship in the Oboronlogistics fleet, the Ursa Mayor, was involved in commercial voyages in Asia, the Middle East, the Baltic and the Northern Sea Route. At the end of May 2024, after scheduled maintenance, m/v Ursa Mayor successfully carried out a test voyage with containers and rolling equipment from St. Petersburg to Kaliningrad.

M/v Ursa Major is a universal dry cargo vessel of RO-RO/LO-LO class (horizontal and vertical loading) designed for transportation of cargo of various classes: general cargo (including oversized), containers and rolling equipment (cars, Euro trucks, etc.).

The cargo hold of the Ursa Major vessel can easily accommodate packaged cargo, equipment, containers and other property weighing up to 1200 tons, the cargo deck - up to 120 units of roll-on, wheeled or tracked equipment, and on the open deck - more than 405 twenty-foot containers in five tiers.
The vessel is equipped with two cranes with a lifting capacity of 350 tons each, which positions it as a Heavy Lift Cargo Vessel. The length of the vessel is 142 m, width is 23 m, draft is 7 m, speed is 14 knots.
