After six months of work in the Baltic, including in conditions of extreme icing, it became necessary to carry out a number of repairs on the Pizhma dry cargo ship, which is part of the Oboronlogistics fleet.
In August 2024, the vessel underwent repairs to the hull and heeling tanks to ensure the stability of the vessel during loading and unloading operations, as well as ventilation upgrades.
The m/v Pizhma is designed for transportation of any type of cargo for various purposes of all hazard classes, including radioactive (class 7). The vessel has a deck for containers and general cargo, two holds and two ship cranes (with a lifting capacity of 35 tons each), which allow you to quickly carry out loading and unloading operations.
The vessel is 95 m long, 16 m wide, and has a draft of 6 m. At maximum load, the vessel carries up to 3,400 tons of cargo per voyage and reaches speeds of up to 10 knots.
The vessel was relocated to the St. Petersburg-Kaliningrad line in December 2023.Previously, the Pizhma was based in the port of Novorossiysk and operated in the southern directions, delivering cargo to Egypt, Syria and Turkey.
At present, the repair has been completed, the vessel is fully ready to work on the delivery of goods in the conditions of the upcoming winter navigation and is in the roadstead of the port of St. Petersburg awaiting further orders.
