Transport accessibility was discussed in Kaliningrad

On September 11, 2024, the management of Oboronlogistics LLC took part in a field meeting of the public council under the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport and the Trade Union of Water Transport Workers of the Russian Federation on ensuring the transport accessibility of the Kaliningrad region in the context of sanctions.

During the meeting, held at the Kaliningrad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the current state of transport accessibility of the Kaliningrad region, the possibilities of cargo sea traffic, as well as the state of port infrastructure in the region were discussed. Representatives of Oboronlogistics, having vast experience in working on the railway-ferry and container lines, took an active part in the discussion of key issues, expressing their readiness to solve any problems related to the delivery of goods to the region.

The topic of subsidizing sea transportation to/from the Kaliningrad region was touched upon. Proposals for amending the Decision on the procedure for granting subsidies were considered, the issue of the need to increase the amount of funding was raised. The participants highly appreciated the increased attention paid by the country's leadership to maintaining a full-fledged transport connection with the Kaliningrad region, and unequivocally noted the need to increase the number of ships in this direction.

Sea transportation provides a stable supply of enterprises and the population with the necessary cargo. Against the backdrop of restrictions imposed by limitrophes on land transit, transportation on the Ust-Luga – Baltiysk railway-ferry line is of key importance. Currently, the transport accessibility of the region is provided on a permanent basis by about 30 vessels, 4 of which are ferries. Oboronlogistics is the owner of the Ambal ferry and dry cargo ships that are involved in the delivery of goods to the region. In addition, the company acts as a cargo agent for all 4 ferries operating on the Ust-Luga – Baltiysk line, providing prompt distribution of cargo on ships in a single window service.

In the first half of 2024, Oboronlogistics ensured the delivery of 1 million tons of cargo between the Kaliningrad region and the main territory of the Russian Federation, including: fuels and lubricants, construction materials, fertilizers, essential goods and food, as well as products of enterprises of the Kaliningrad region intended for other regions of the country.
