The ferry Ambal brought to Kaliningrad the African lion Tigran, which will become the new long-awaited inhabitant of the Kaliningrad Zoo. Circus lions and tigers are regulars of the Ambal ferry, but such a popular passenger traveled for the first time.
Tigran turned out to be famous even before his journey on the ferry. He had a difficult fate, he was confiscated in Anapa from street photographers, then lived in a private zoo and was transferred to the Stary Oskol Zoo in the Belgorod region. And now Tigran will have a real home in Kaliningrad, where his future bride is waiting for him - a lonely lioness Leia.
Lion was transported in a covered van with two escorts. During the trip, he ate, drank and was in a great mood. Good weather in the Baltic was favorable for his journey.
Ferries on the Ust-Luga – Baltiysk line regularly transport animals on closed decks in the interests of agro-industrial holdings, nature reserves and farms in Russia.
Transportation of pets in the cabins of the ferries Ambal, Marshal Rokossovsky and General Chernyakhovsky is prohibited. On the passenger-and-cargo ferry Antey, pets are allowed to be transported and placed in the cabin with the passenger as hand luggage, provided that the relevant veterinary documents are available.
