Sparta IV: another voyage to the north

The dry cargo ship Sparta IV made another voyage from the port of Arkhangelsk to the port of Bukhta Sever with a new batch of construction materials, including large-diameter pipe sheet piles (2,520 mm), intended for the construction of port facilities for the future largest port in the waters of the Northern Sea Route.

Welded tubular sheet piles (STS) are special engineering structures that are used to retain soil, protect the walls of pits from crumbling and flooding of marine and onshore infrastructure.

Currently, full-scale construction is underway in the port of Bukhta Sever. In the coming years, the port will become the largest on the Northern Sea Route for servicing energy projects in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, Sparta IV had already worked in the Arctic as part of the northern delivery. The vessel is capable of reaching speeds of up to 14 knots and transporting general, container, bulk and oversized cargo. Two cargo cranes with a lifting capacity of 55 tons each allow for prompt cargo handling. Transshipment of materials in Sever Bay was carried out using the vessel's own crane equipment.
