The scheduled repair of the universal dry cargo ship Oboronlogistics Sparta has been completed. Repairs have been carried out since the end of March 2024 as part of the next examination. On October 21, 2024, all the necessary classification documents were received, the vessel is ready for further operation.
Under the supervision of experts of the North-West Branch of the Russian Classification Society, the following were repaired on the vessel:
main engine, diesel generators and auxiliary mechanisms of the engine and boiler room;
propeller-rudder complex;
cargo cranes;
metal structures, including ballast tanks;
electrical equipment, including alarms.
The hull of the vessel was painted. In addition, the Sparta has modernized its ship communications and installed a new complex that works with the Russian satellite constellation.
Due to its design, Sparta can transport any type of cargo for various purposes. It has 2 holds and a cargo deck to accommodate containers and rolling equipment. The presence of powerful ship cranes with a lifting capacity of 240 tons each and a stern cargo ramp allows for vertical and horizontal cargo handling.
The length of the vessel is 127 m, the width is 20 m. With a maximum load of 6,785 tons per voyage, the Sparta is capable of transferring more than 400 containers at speeds of up to 12 knots.
Currently, the vessel is in the port of St. Petersburg awaiting orders. Oboronlogistics specialists are studying the cargo base to make a decision on the intended use of the vessel.
