Gamma quanta on board

In December 2024, Oboronlogistics for the first time transported cargo of the 7th class of danger from the Kaliningrad region to the main territory of Russia, namely: a source of ionizing radiation from a rarefied medical gamma therapy device.

The cargo was transported in two heavy-duty protective insulating transport and packaging sets (one inside the other), ensuring the complete safety and protection of both the cargo and the environment. Particular attention was paid to the placement and securing of cargo on the deck of the vessel.

Delivery was carried out in accordance with the license issued by the Federal Service for Environmental, Technological and Nuclear Supervision OBL-Shipping LLC (a subsidiary of Oboronlogistika).

To perform these transportations, the vessel was equipped with additional equipment, and the crew members underwent special training, education and instruction.

At present, the specialists of OBL-Shipping have established working cooperation with the Government and the management of medical institutions of the Kaliningrad region to provide the region with the necessary medical equipment containing sources of ionizing radiation in a timely manner.
