Day of the reunification of Crimea with Russia

March 18 is the Day of the Reunification of Crimea with Russia. In 2014, the Crimean peninsula and the federal city of Sevastopol became subjects of the Russian Federation after a referendum in which the majority of residents voted to become part of Russia.

From this historic moment, additional carrying capacity was required to ensure passenger and cargo communication with the peninsula. In order to fulfill this task, as part of the implementation of the decisions of the President of the Russian Federation and the leadership of the Ministry of Defense of Russia, Oboronlogistics delivered two sea ferries to the Kerch crossing: Maria and Lavrentiy.

For the next three years (until the commissioning of the Crimean Bridge in 2018), the Kerch crossing was the largest in the world in terms of traffic. In total, all ferries operating on the line carried up to 6 million passengers and 1.5 million cars per year.

In October 2022, after the tragic accident on the Crimean Bridge, Oboronlogistics again came to the aid of Crimea and promptly brought its ferries Maria and Lavrentiy to the Crimea-Caucasus line to ensure uninterrupted transport links between the Republic of Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory.

Despite the difficult situation associated with drone attacks and the missile threat at the crossing, Oboronlogistiс's cargo-passenger ferries continue to deliver vehicles with perishable products and essential goods to Crimea.

For two and a half years, Oboronlogistics ferries have made a total of about 14 thousand trips, transported 300 thousand vehicles and more than 500 thousand passengers.
