Bars on the Svir

In July 2025, the tugboat Bars, which is part of the Oboronlogistics fleet, performed tasks in a barge-towing train on the Svir River, delivering cranes and metal structures (trusses) used in the repair of hydroelectric facilities.

The Svir River is an important link in the Volga-Baltic waterway, originates in Lake Onega and flows into Lake Ladoga. From time immemorial, it has been a key trade route connecting the West and the East, and today, in the spring and autumn period, the river is actively used for the transportation of passengers and goods by water transport. The locks of the Svir cascade of hydroelectric power plants ensure the passage of ships from Lake Ladoga to Lake Onega and back.

The presence of a tugboat allows Oboronlogistics to carry out the transportation of project, oversized and large-tonnage cargo, including as part of barge-towing complexes, as well as the delivery of cargo of various ranges (liquid, bulk, piece, oversized, container, oil products, gases, special equipment, etc.) by inland waterways.
The Bars is a twin-screw pusher. Length - 40.80 m, average draft - 2.16 m, width - 8.60 m, engine power - 1039 horsepower, estimated tractive effort - 10 tons.
