Sparta IV tested Pionersky

In mid-December 2025, the Oboronlogistics dry cargo ship Sparta IV made a test call with a cargo of containers at the sea terminal under construction in the city of Pionersky, Kaliningrad Region. Transshipment of containers with subsequent reloading to vehicles was carried out using the Sparta IV's own crane equipment.

The main objective of the vessel call was to study the possibility of the new terminal's participation in diversifying the growing volume of coastal sea traffic and optimal fleet distribution while ensuring transport accessibility to the Kaliningrad Region. Until then, container transshipment was carried out mainly at the terminals of Baltiysk and the Kaliningrad Commercial Sea Port.

The Sparta IV operates together with other Oboronlogistika vessels (Sparta, Sparta II and Pizhma) on the St. Petersburg-Kaliningrad container line. In total, in November 2025, four vessels transported about 25 thousand tons of cargo. Of these: containers – 1,819 units (21,159 thousand tons), rolling equipment – 129 units (3,269 tons), general cargo – 290 tons.
