On May 1, 2026, the railway ferry Ambal left the Ust-Luga - Baltiysk line for scheduled repairs, which, according to preliminary estimates, may take from two months. During this time, the specialists of the shipyard, together with crew members, will check all the mechanisms and components of the ferry, ensure their trouble-free operation.
Oboronlogistics informed its customers and partners in advance about the withdrawal of the ferry from the line. Given the importance of the route, the company will make every effort to return the ferry to service as soon as possible.
The Ambal ferry built in 1990 is designed to transport railway cars and rolling equipment. Trains and equipment are placed on three cargo decks. The average weight of a cargo batch is 8,200 tons. Ambal makes up to 6 round trips per month. Previously, the ferry underwent scheduled repairs in April 2024.
